China Guizhou Weng’an Golden Bud

Golden Bud is a light-sensitive type of yellow albino tea tree variety. It was discovered in Yuyao City, Zhejiang Province in the 1990s and was approved by the Zhejiang Provincial Forest Tree Variety Approval Committee in 2008. It is a rare albino tea tree germplasm resource variety and the only yellow variant tea species currently cultivated in China. The family name of Golden Bud is Camellia, and the genus name is Camellia. Its amino acid content is as high as 9%, while the amino acid content of white tea is 5-7%, and the amino acid content of ordinary tea is 3-4%. The high amino acid content makes Golden Bud have the characteristics of delicious taste and mellow taste. In addition, Golden Bud has low tea polyphenol content and low phenol-ammonia ratio, and the prepared green tea has unique advantages. Due to its unique variety characteristics, Golden Bud has been introduced to major tea areas in our country. The current planting bases are Zhejiang, Anhui, Shaanxi, Sichuan and other places. Among them, Guangde City, Anhui Province is a special product of Golden Bud, which is protected by national geographical indications. In October 2018, Weng’an Golden Bud successfully applied for the national geographical indication certification trademark.
